"HP / LP ports" is the number of high-pressure and low-pressure ports on the first stage, which caps how many accessories (transmitter, SPG, inflator, second second-stage) you can run at once.

Pros
  • Simple, low-maintenance downstream piston design with decades of field history, easy and cheap to service
  • XTIS thermal insulation gives even this entry-level piston an EN250 cold-water rating, unusual for the price tier
  • True entry-level pricing makes it an accessible on-ramp to the Scubapro lineup
Cons
  • Unbalanced piston means breathing effort increases noticeably as tank pressure drops
  • Not environmentally sealed, more exposed to sand, silt, and contamination than the MK11 or MK17
  • No adjustable breathing-resistance knob or venturi lever on the R095 second stage

The MK2 EVO/R095 is Scubapro’s no-frills entry point, an unbalanced piston first stage paired with a classic downstream second stage that trades adjustability and environmental sealing for simplicity and low cost. It’s the regulator dive shops hand new divers and rental fleets rely on. Also sold with the R105 or R190 second stage instead, and a DIN version of the MK2 EVO first stage exists as well; the R095 second stage is also commonly sold as an octopus paired with those other combos, so double check which second stage a given listing actually includes.
