The Perdix is what most technical and cave divers reach for. The AA-battery design is a deliberate choice. No dive computer failure is scarier than one you can’t recharge mid-trip, and a spare AA is available in literally every gas station on Earth.

"Gas switches" is how many different mixes this computer can be programmed to switch between mid-dive, mostly relevant for technical/staged-decompression diving. It doesn't tell you which gas types (air, nitrox, trimix) are supported. See Gas types and the product description above for that.
