Oceanic

Oceanic Geo 4.0

The Geo Air's sibling without wireless air integration, same dual algorithm, lower price.

Open BLE sync (libdivecomputer)

Syncs wirelessly with third-party apps (Subsurface, Currents, etc.), not just the manufacturer app.

"Gas switches" is how many different mixes this computer can be programmed to switch between mid-dive, mostly relevant for technical/staged-decompression diving. It doesn't tell you which gas types (air, nitrox, trimix) are supported. See Gas types and the product description above for that.

Pros
  • Same dual-algorithm engine and four modes (Air, Gauge, Freediving, Watch) as the Geo Air, at a lower price
  • Bluetooth sync to Oceanic's companion app
  • User-replaceable battery and a 24-dive log
Cons
  • No wireless air integration (see the Geo Air for that)
  • No digital compass
  • Monochrome display only
Diver community sentiment
Mixed opinions

Divers generally view the Geo 4.0 as a decent-value, well-configurable recreational computer with a bigger, easier-to-read display than its predecessor and useful Bluetooth log syncing, though several Scubaboard posters describe the menu/button navigation as confusing, carrying over the older Geo 2.0's UI, and iOS Bluetooth pairing is called finicky. A more serious recurring complaint is corrosion: one longtime owner running seven Geo 4.0 units in Caribbean waters reported rust forming around the screws on all of them despite daily freshwater rinsing (one unit eventually flooded), with other posters suspecting a manufacturing downgrade from the Geo 2.0, while Oceanic reportedly blamed insufficient rinsing rather than a design flaw. The Geo 4.0 has since been discontinued.

Summarized from public forum discussion (Scubaboard, Reddit, and similar), not a survey we ran ourselves. See the linked threads for the original conversations.

The Geo 4.0 is the non-air-integrated counterpart to the Geo Air in Oceanic’s watch-style Geo line, same dual-algorithm engine, four dive modes, and Bluetooth sync, just without the option to add a wireless tank pressure transmitter.
