The Insta360 X4 is a dual-lens 360-degree action camera: instead of aiming a single lens at your subject, it captures the full sphere around the camera and lets you reframe the shot afterward in Insta360’s app, which is useful underwater where composing a shot one-handed in current is awkward. It’s waterproof to 10m on its own, and Insta360’s Invisible Dive Case extends that to 50m while being designed to stitch out of the final 360 footage rather than appearing as a visible housing in frame. The tradeoff versus a standard action cam is workflow: 360 footage needs reframing in the app before it’s a normal video, and there are two lenses to keep clear of water spots and silt instead of one.
